On May 7, 2015 in Beirut, around 400 guests, board members and dignitaries representing the Lebanese and Armenian community from around the world, including many from the United States, of various denominations, political parties, came together and recognized this special milestone.
Reflections from Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of Haigazian University, on this special occasion, as portrayed in the evening’s program:
“With every milestone in Haigazian University’s history, we look back and feel tremendously grateful for each opportunity we have had to equip the young generations with what is needed to live balanced lives; lives where the critical mind, the equipped senses, the outreaching and
bridging attitude, the professionalism in ethics, the width of political perspective, are all combined with the matters of a good heart. This our founders have learned in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide, and in the renewed space created through God’s grace… We are indeed grateful to God for the sixty years past, but we are filled with hope for the
promising years of educational ministry and service that await us for long years ahead. And we are confident that our role in society will be needed and appreciated.”

Haigazian University with its motto of “Truth, Freedom, and Service,” is the only Armenian University in the Diaspora. Serving over 900 undergraduate and graduate students today, it provides B.A., B.B.A., B.S., M.A. and M.B.A. degrees in over thirty fields of study, and another 450 students in the Teacher Training and Adult Education Programs.
This eastern Mediterranean liberal arts institution was established on October 17, 1955 by the joint endeavors of the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA) and the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE).
